Hervey Bay Square Dance Club Inc. proudly celebrated its 30th anniversary in March 2019, having been officially incorporated in 1989. But square dancing in Hervey Bay began well before that, our roots run deep in the local community.

Today, the club remains active and vibrant.
While some members have moved on, a dedicated core of dancers continues to volunteer their time and energy to keep the club thriving. We are a committee-run, member-driven organisation, built on camaraderie and shared passion.

Unlike many clubs, Hervey Bay Square Dance Club does not have a permanent caller.
Instead, we embrace a flexible approach to music, drawing from records, tapes, CDs, and since 2010, a digital library on our laptop. This allows members to create custom playlists from a wide selection of callers and styles.

We’re fortunate to regularly dance to some of Australia’s finest callers, including Brian Hotchkies (NSW), Mike Davies (VIC), Glenn Wilson, Kay Walker, Gary Petersen, and Nev McLachlan (QLD). We’ve also welcomed renowned American callers such as Jerry Jestin, Jerry Story, Randy Dougherty, Jet Roberts, Mike Saestrom, and Bronc Wise.
